Abdulfattah H. Banah (S'76-M'83) graduated from King Saud University (formerly Riyadh University), Saudi Arabia, with the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering (electronics and communications) in 1972. He was then awarded a scholarship to study abroad for the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. He received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineer ing from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, in 1976, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1981.In 1972 he was appointed as a Demonstrator in the Electrical Engineering Department of Riyadh University. From 1982 to 1984 he was an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at King Saud University. Since 1984 he has been with King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests include acousto-optical systems, optical communications, and mathematical modeling.
