D. P. Knobles (M'98) received the B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1980, 1983, and 1989, respectively.

He was a Staff Member at Applied Research Laboratories, University of Texas at Austin (ARL:UT), from 1980 to 1986. After completing postdoctoral work in nuclear theory, he returned to ARL:UT, where he is now a Research Scientist. In addition to his research in ocean acoustics, his research interests include theoretical physics.
