John F. Miller was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1951. He received the B.S. degree in physics/mathematics from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa., and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, in 1985.Between 1973 and 1980 he was employed by the Naval Research Laboratory as a Research Physicist. Since 1980 he has been employed by the Singer Company, Link Simulation Systems Division, Silver Spring, MD, as a Senior Staff Engineer where his responsibilities have included being principal investigator on R & D studies of underwater propagation and acoustics lead for real-time software systems design and development as well as interface and integration with custom hardware systems.
Dr. Miller is a member of the Acoustical Society of America.
