Robert A. Koch received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1971 and 1976, respectively.
After a postdoctorate at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, he returned to Austin in 1978 and performed particle beam accelerator research at Austin Research Associates. From 1978 to 1980 he also taught environmental science and introductory physics courses part-time at Austin Community College. Since 1980 he has been a Research Scientist at the University of Texas Applied Research Laboratories.
