Iman W. Schurman was born in St. Louis, MO, on June 29, 1962. He received the A.B. degree in mathematics from Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, in 1984 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics in 1988 and 1991, respectively, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.
Since 1992 he has been a Senior Staff Mathematician in the Submarine Technology Department of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, MD. His current interests include stochastic propagation modeling, coherence properties of high-gain towed arrays, and signal and noise performance of multiline towed arrays.
Dr. Schurman is a member of the Acoustical Society of America.
