David Flatt received the B.Sc. degree in electronics and electrical engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1972.He joined Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory in 1975, working on current measuring instrumentation. From 1986 to the present time, he has specialized in developing Acoustic Doppler current profiler techniques.
