A. D. Blackowiak received the BSc. degree in engineering from Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, CA, in 1993 and is pursuing the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. He spent the summers of 1992 and 1993 at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA, working on the problem of estimating multi-path arrivals using simulated annealing. He remains interested in optimization problems and is studying application of perturbation methods to complicated dynamical systems such as Celtic Stones.
