Torbjørn Eltoft (A'93) received the Cand. Real. (M.S.) and Dr. Scient. (Ph.D.) degrees from the University of Tromsø, Tromsø, Norway, in 1981 and 1984, respectively.
He specialized in applications of modern signal processing techniques in experimental ionospheric physics. Since 1984, he has been interested in remote sensing, with emphasis on SAR imaging of ocean waves and scattering of microwaves from the ocean surface. In 1988, he became an Associate Professor in the Applied Physics group, Department of Physics, University of Tromsø. His present areas of interest include signal and image processing, and remote sensing.
