Siegfried Stolte received the Diplom-Physiker and Ph.D degrees in physics and geophysics from the University of Hamburg in 1968 and 1984.

Before he joined FWG, he worked in the field of nuclear physics. At FWG, he was involved in advanced problems of sea surface physics, especially in the physics of short waves. His recent works were concentrated on wave breaking and the development of new experimental methods. His researeh interests include radar remote sensing and sound propagation.
