William J. Vetter (M'60-SM'73) received the B.A.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto in 1959, and the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1961 and 1965 respectively. From 1961 to 1971 he held faculty appointments in Electrical Engineering at Waterloo. In 1971 he joined the Engineering Faculty at Memorial University of Newfoundland in his present position as Professor of Engineering, where he also served as Chairman for the Electrical Engineering Program from 1971 to 1976. His research activities and publications encompass modeling and control pertaining to the papermaking industry, sensitivity analysis for dynamical systems, and in recent years applied acoustics, shallow marine sediment probing, geophysical modeling, and related signal processing.Dr. Vetter is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
