Julian C. Holtzman (S'63-M'66-SM'83) received the B.S.E.E. from the Polytechnic Institute of New York in 1958, the M.S.E.E. from the University of California in 1962, and the Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1967 from Cornell University.He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Kansas, Lawrence. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he is the Director of KTEC's Center for Excellence in Computer-Aided Systems Engineering (CECASE), Formally, he served seven years as Chairman of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. In California, he worked for Hughes Aircraft in research and development of microwave antennas and microwave circuits. He also worked as a senior research scientist at Lockheed Missiles and Space. He was a consultant for a California firm on projects related to reconnaissance systems. Since 1969, Dr. Holtzman has been associated with the University of Kansas, ECE department. During his tenure with the university he has also worked as a consultant with ST\astrAR Corporation, Lawrence and Birdview Satellite Corp., Chanute, Kansas and the Lawrence Applied Research Corporation. Dr. Holtzman has authored or been a co-author on 85 papers and 135 technical reports. He has had approximately $4 million in sponsored research from the Air Force, Army, Navy, NASA and industry.
