Satoru Yamaguchi received the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Kyushu University, Kagua, Japan, in 1990 and 1996, respectively.

He is a Research Associate of the Ocean Engineering Division of the Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University. His major research field is underwater engineering, and he has been a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Ocean Engineering of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, since March 1998.
