Anthony E. LaVigne received the B.S. degree in ocean engineering from Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Boca Raton, in 1990.

Since then, he has worked with the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Group at FAU, developing submersible vehicles, and with the Center of Acoustics and Vibration at FAU, where he has carried out experiments on underwater sound propagation and developed a practical algorithm which uses Gaussian beam ray tracing to predict the acoustics for shallow underwater environments. Currently, he is working on the prediction of turbine fan noise.
