Richard J. Babb was born in Bristol, UK, in 1946 and received the B.A. degree from Cambridge University in 1967 and the M Sc. degree from Kent University in 1969.Since 1980 he has been engaged in the development of underwater acoustic systems at the Institute of Oceanographic Sciences, Godalming, Surrey. His present interests are in the performance analysis of sidescan, bathymetric, and sub-bottom profiling systems.
