John A. Pritzlaff received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.After three years of destroyer duty with the U.S. Navy, he spent ten years at General Electric's Advanced Technology Laboratory in Schenectady, NY. He joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation's Deepstar manned submersible program in 1965. A member of the American Bureau of Shipping and Lloyd's Register of Shipping Special Technical Committees for Underwater Systems and Submersible Classification, he has been active with the Marine Technology Society (MTS) in the field of submersible safety through editorial and publishing work on three submersible safety guideline books. He has published some 60 articles and papers on underwater systems, vehicle safety, and offshore operations, and was a contributing author to the recent ROV Operational Guideline book published by MTS. He is currently Program Manager at the Westinghouse Oceanic Division in Annapolis, MD.
