Satchi Panda received the B.E. degree from Sambalpur University, Burla, India, in 1986; the M.Tech. degree in ocean engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, in 1987; and the Ph.D. degree in ocean engineering from University of Rhode Island, Kingston, in 1993.

At URI he worked on sonar design and sonar data processing. From 1991 to 1993 he worked at Florida Atlantic University, conducting research in sediment characterization using an FM sonar. He is currently working at GE Medical Systems, Milwaukee, WI. His research interests include ultrasonic transducer design, acoustic imaging, and acoustic signal processing.
