Steve Y.-S. Chang was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He received the B.S. degree in physics from National Taiwan University and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, in 1990 and 1994, respectively.
Before he joined Caelum Research Corporation as a Scientific Programmer/Analyst in 1994, he has worked in CAIP Center, Rutgers University, as a Research Assistant and later as a Software Engineer. In CAIP Center's Multimedia Lab, he developed speech recognition and speaker identification systems based on dynamic time warping and hidden Markov model. He is now an On-Site Contractor for Caelum Research Corporation in NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, providing programming and analysis support for the air-sea interaction project. This project involves SAR and AVHRR satellite data analysis using image processing techniques and two-dimensional wavelet transform.
