Bennett holds the Ph.D. degree in oceanography from Texas A & M University, College Station, TX.He is Head of the Seafloor Geosciences Division of the Naval Ocean Research and Development Activity, located at the National Space Technology Laboratories in Mississippi. He specializes in marine geotechnique and clay microstructure of submarine sediments.
