Remo Z. Machado Filho (S'72-M'74) received the degree in electronic engineering from the Pont. Universidade Catolica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1974, and is pursuing the M.Sc. degree in oceanic engineering at COPPE/UFRJ.From 1974 to 1987 he held several field, technical, and executive positions related to operation, design and manufacturing of positioning, marine and airborne geophysics, oceanography and process control equipment and systems. Since 1987, he has been with the Subsea Engineering Group at the Petrobrás R & D Center, Rio de Janciro, working in projects for deep water subsea oil exploration. He is a frequent lecturer on underwater acoustics, acoustic systems, signal processing and neural networks subjects, and coordinates courses on digital signal processing at Petrobrás Training Center. His research interests include underwater acoustics and systems, signal proccssing, adaptive array processing, and neural networks applications.
