Bruce A. Magnell received the BSEE, MSEE, and Sc.D. in Oceanography degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been involved in numerous oceanographic measurement and analysis projects, including the original SOFAR float listening stations; design and operation of a microstructure probe; looking for salt fingers on the main thermocline; oceanographic studies for the Atlantic Generating Station off New Jersey; numerical model investigations of cyclone-driven currents on the Northwest Australian continental shelf; oceanographic studies on Georges Bank; and modeling the performance of an acoustic current meter in a wave zone.
