Antonio Cantoni

Antonio Cantoni (M'74-SM'83) was born in Soliera, Italy, on October 30, 1946. He received the B.E. (first class honors) and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Western Australia, Nedlands, in 1968 and 1972, respectively.

He was a Lecturer in Computer Science at the Australian National University, Canberra, in 1972. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Newcastle, Shortland, N.S.W., Australia, in 1973, where he is Professor of Computer Engineering. He spent a sabbatical leave at the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology, Loughborough, England, working on adaptive arrays. He is interested in adaptive systems, digital communication, computer systems, and industrial electronics. He regularly acts as a Consultant to industry in Newcastle for the development of electronic and microprocessor-based systems.
