Emyr Roberts received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Wales.In 1968 he joined the University commercial company, Industrial Development Bangor, where he was responsible for the design and construction of acoustic and resistivity probes for sea-bed sediments. He later became manager of navigation systems, concerned with the development of several buoy tracking and remote monitoring systems. Jointly with Dr. J. D. Last, he has published numerous papers on radio navigation relay systems. Since 1985, he has been a Tutorial Fellow at the School of Electronic Engineering Science, the University of Wales, Bangor where, with the Radio Navigation Group, he has been involved in the development of Decca/Argos buoys for current measurement and responsible for the design and construction of data gathering Argos buoys.
Dr. Roberts is an Associate Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a Member of the Society for Underwater Technology.
