Donald J. Lawrence, Peter C. Smith; Evaluation of HF ground-wave radar on the east coast of Canada, IEEE J. Oceanic Eng., vol. 11, pp. 246 - 250, April 1986.
Donald J. Lawrence was born in Halifax, N.S., Canada, on February 22, 1936. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in physics from Dalhousie University, Halifax, N.S., Canada, in 1957 and 1959, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of London, London, England, in 1963.He was appointed as Research Scientist with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, working at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Dartmouth, N.S., Canada in 1964. His primary research interest is surface currents. He is presently engaged in applying HF radar, evaluating near-surface current meters, and designing better Lagrangian drifters.
