David Last received the B.Sc. degree in engineering in 1961 from the University of Bristol, England, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering in 1966 from the University, of Sheffield, England.He is a Reader in the School of Electronic Engineering Science at the University of Wales, Bangor where he heads the Radio Navigation Group within the Advanced Communications Engineering Laboratories. His research has principally been concerned with low-frequency radio navigation and positioning systems, including Decca Navigator and Loran-C, and with techniques for radio direction-finding, automatic location of land mobile vehicles, and the radio-navigation relay systems. He has also published a number of papers in various fields of radio communications. He acts as a consultant on radio navigation and communications to companies and government departments.
Dr. Last is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation.
