Hien B. Nguyen was born in Ha Dong, Vietnam, on January 16, 1948. He received the B.S.E.E. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, in 1970 and 1971, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI in 1977. He has been a faculty member at the University of Miami since 1978. Presently, he is a Research Associate Professor at the Applied Marine Physics division of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami. His current interest is in underwater acoustics, instrumentation, and signal processing.
