Yogesh C. Agrawal received the B.Tech. degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1969, followed by the Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkley in 1975.

He is presently an Assistant Scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. His principal interests are in ocean optics and fluid dynamics of the bottom boundary layer of the sea. His current research projects include the development of an autonomous laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV) for the study of the lowest 0.5 m of the bottom boundary layer, and for the study of the wave boundary layer in the coastal zone. He is also responsible for the theoretical modeling of wide area photography program at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
