Carl V. Nelson was born on November 5, 1951 in Millington, TN. He received the B.A. degree in physics from California State University, Fullerton, and the M.S. degree in engineering physics from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.At present he is a Senior Staff Physicist at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, MD. He develops oceanographic instrumentation to support ocean remote-sensing systems.
