Donald G. Dudley (M'83) was born in Washington, DC, on October 6, 1931. He received the B.S. degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, in 1954 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1960 and 1968, respectively.From 1956 to 1964, he was a Member of the Technical Staff, Hughes Aircraft Company, specializing in the design of scanning antenna arrays. In 1964 he joined the Autonetics Division of North American Rockwell where he was, successively, Group Scientist in charge of Advanced Antenna Technology, Manager of Advanced Development in the Space Sciences Department, and Staff Physicist in the Autonetics Research Center. He joined the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1968, and is presently Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of the Electromagnetics Laboratory. His principal interests are in transient electromagnetics, numerical modeling, and parametric inverse problems. He is also a consultant in electromagnetics, specializing in antenna design, transient phenomena, and geophysical modeling.
Dr. Dudley is a member of Alphi Pi Mu and Tau Beta Pi. He is also a member of the Air Force Technical Group on Lightning and EMP, the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Committee on Education, the Electromagnetic Society, and Commissions B and F of USNC URSI. With URSI, he has served as an elected U.S. Delegate to the last two triennial international general assemblies.
