David R. Fox was born in Warwick, U.K. in 1944. He was awarded the B.Sc. (honors) degree in physics in 1965 and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering in 1980, both from London University.From 1965 to 1972 he worked for the Cancer Research Campaign at St. Bartholomews Hospital Medical School in radiation physics. After a period of schoolteaching he moved to EMI Central Research Laboratories to work on ultrasonic imaging and transducer array development. In 1984 he was invited to join Raychem's marine division to work on piezoelectric polymer applications. This work was recently transferred to Focas, Ltd, Swindon, U.K.
Dr. Fox is a member of the Institute of Physics and of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.
