Suzanne T. McDaniel received the B.S. degree in physics from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, in 1957, the M.S. degree in physics from Adelphi University, Garden City, NY, in 1963, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, in 1972.
She has taught physics at Penn State, worked in the aerospace industry, and has recently retired as Senior Scientist and Professor of Acoustics from the Applied Research Laboratory of the Pennsylvania State University. She is presently a consultant. Her major research interests include the interaction of sound with marine sediments, shallow-water acoustic propagation, and the scattering of acoustic and electromagnetic energy by random rough surfaces.
