Klaus Uwe Simmer was born in Alsfeld, Germany, on August 15, 1960. He received the Diplom-Ingenieur and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Bremen, Germany, in 1986 and 1988, respectively.

He is a Research Assistant in the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bremen. His research interests include adaptive array processing, time delay estimation, noise reduction, speech enhancement, and speech recognition.

Dr. Uwe Simmer has been a member of the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) since 1986 and a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society since 1993.
