Paul W. Krehl was born in Buffalo, NY, on April 8, 1949. He graduated from the State University College of New York at Buffalo in 1975 with a M.Sc. degree in chemistry.

In 1975 he was with Starks Associates, Inc. and was responsible for the synthesis and characterization of complex organic compounds used by the National Cancer Institute. In 1978 he joined Electrochem Industries, Clarence, NY, where he was involved in the research and development of lithium batteries. He has published over ten articles and is coinventor on a major U.S. lithium oxyhalide patent application of which corresponding foreign patents have been issued in four foreign countries.
