Bruce H. Pasewark received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from the University of Virginia in 1975 and 1979, respectively, specializing in low-temperature thermodynamics.
From 1979 to 1982, he was a Research Associate in the Chemical Engineering Department of Texas A&M University. From 1982 to the present, he has been a Research Physicist in the Acoustics Division at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC. His primary research involves experimental underwater acoustics and signal processing in the shallow-water environment. His current interests include acoustic propagation in a random medium and the relationship between acoustics and oceanography. In 1984, he was a Visiting Scientist with the Marine Physical Laboratory/Scripps Institute of Oceanography of the University of California at San Diego, working on a shallow-water acoustic scattering project. He spent 1989 on assignment at the Rosenthiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences of the University of Miami studying general underwater acoustics and oceanography.
