Richard L. Ribe received the M.S. degree in physics and the M.S. degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Washington in 1964 and 1957, respectively. He received the B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1951.

He currently works as a Physicist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on ocean wave and other instrument systems.
