Yasubumi Kanai was born in Saitama, Japan, on February 5, 1943. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engeering from Tokyo University of Electric Machine, Tokyo, Japan. He obtained the licence of the first-class radio operator in 1976.He is currently a Teaching and Technical Assistant and a Radio Officer at Tokyo University of Mercantile Marine, Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Kanai is a member of the Japan Institute of Navigation.
