Steven F. Clifford received his B.S.E.E. degree from Northeastern University, 1965, and Ph.D. in Engineering Science from Dartmouth College, 1969. From 1969 to 1982 he was a physicist with the Wave Propagation Laboratory of NOAA and, since 1982, Chief of the Propagation Studies Program Area at WPL. He has authored more than 90 publications on atmospheric optics, ocean acoustics, and electromagnetic theory. He is a Fellow of both the Optical and Acoustical Societies of America. Clifford is a member of the American Physical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Society, and the International Union of Radio Science.
