Jerry H. Ginsberg was born in New York, NY, on September 18, 1944. He received the B.S. degree in civil engineering from The Cooper Union, New York, NY, in 1965. He performed his graduate studies in engineering mechanics at Columbia University, New York, NY, where he received the M.S. degree in 1966, and was awarded the E.Sc.D. degree in 1970.From 1969 until 1973 he was an Assistant Professor of Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Engineering Sciences at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. He then transferred to the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue, where he was promoted to Associate Professor. He was a Fulbright-Hays Advanced Research Fellow at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Electricité et de Mécanique, Nancy, France, during the academic year 1975-1976. He joined the faculty of the School of Mechanical Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, in 1980. He performs research and teaches in the areas of acoustics, Classical dynamics, and vibrations, with emphasis on fluid-structure interaction and nonlinear wave propagation.
Dr. Ginsberg is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Academy of Mechanics.
