Jerome P.-Y. Maa was born on December 7, 1948, in Peking, China. He received the B.S. degree in hydraulic engineering in 1970 and the M.S. degree in civil engineering in 1972, both from the National Chung-Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan, Republic of China. In 1986 he obtained the Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville.He worked as a hydraulic engineer from July 1973 to December 1981. After graduating from the University of Florida, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Louisiana State University from Sept. 1986 to April 1987. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, School of Marine Science, College of William and Mary, Gloucester Point, VA. His research specialties are sediment transport and hydrodynamics.
