Michael G. Skafel received the B.E. degree in mechanical engineering in 1964, the M.Sc. degree in control engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1966, and the Ph.D. degree in fluid mechanics from the University of Cambridge in 1972.In 1972 he joined the staff of the Department of the Environment at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters, Burlington, Ontario, and currently is the Head of the Shore Processes Section there. His research interests include the sediment transport by waves, shore evolution, wave propagation, and harbor design.
