Bruce Donald Ward was born in Mt. Barker, South Australia, on June 20, 1950. He received the B.Sc. (Hon) degree in 1972 and the Ph.D. degree in physics in 1976, both from the University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia.From June 1975 to June 1977 he held the position of Radio Research Board Fellow with the CSIRO Division of Radiophysics and the University of Adelaide, Department of Physics. Since June 1977 he has been employed at the Defence Research Centre, Salisbury, S.A., Australia, where he has been engaged in the development of the frequency management system for the JINDALEE radar. His current interests include the interpretation of atmospheric noise and HF propagation measurements as they relate to HF radar systems.
