Dan Madurasinghe (M'92) received the B.Sc. (physics) and B.Sc. (Hons.) (mathematics) degrees from the University of Sri Lanka in 1978 and 1980, respectively, the M.Sc. degree in computer science from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1982, and the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from the University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia, in 1987.From 1987 to 1988, he held an Australian National Research Fellowship (Postdoctoral) to conduct research on the mathematical modeling of the corrosion degradation processes using electrochemically derived data. In 1988, he joined the Communications Division, Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), Australia, as a Research Scientist, where he worked on the application of antenna array processing algorithms in radio direction finding. In 1991, he was promoted to the position of Senior Research Scientist at the Microwave Radar Division, DSTO. His current research involves the application of electromagnetic theory in detection and classification problems.
