James B. Newman (A'87) received the S.B. and S.M. degrees in ocean engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge.

He is a Research Engineer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA, responsible for the development of the real-time computer systems and software for the ARGO/ JASON vehicles. He is spending 1990 as a Visiting Engineer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, Pacific Grove, CA.
