James D. Lyden received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in physical oceanography from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI in 1979 and 1983, respectively.He has been employed by the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) since 1980, where he has worked on active and passive remote sensing with application to oceanography. The emphasis of his work has been in the development of processing and analysis techniques for the extraction of oceanographic information from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data.
