Anthony Thomas Ashley (S'68-M'77) received the B.Sc. degree in electrical science (University Gold Medal), M.Sc. and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering all from the University of Manitoba, Canada, Since joining the Defence Research Establishment Atlantic (DREA), Dartmouth Nova Scotia in 1977, he has been involved in both active and passive sonar signal and data processing for military sonar systems. He is currently Head of the Signal Processing Section at DREA. His section has carried out the basic research and exploratory development of a number of sonar systems which are now in operational use in the Canadian and other foreign navies. In 1992 he became the Canadian Regional Associate Editor for the IEEE JOURNAL OF OCEANIC ENGINEERING.
