Peter V. Ridd received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from James Cook University, Townsville, Australia, in 1980 and 1988, respectively,He worked at the Australian Institute of Marine Science as an Experimental Scientist in physical oceanography. He has been working as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer at James Cook University since 1988. His research interests include sediment transport, mangrove swamp hydrology, and electromagnetic sensing close to an interface.
