Livio Visintini was born in Milano, Italy, on September 3, 1952. He received the degree in aeronautical engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy, in December, 1975, with a thesis on computation of nonlinear vortex wakes of wings.Since May 1976 he has been working in the Advanced Studies Dept. of Aermacchi, Varese, Italy, as aerodynamicist, dealing with computational aerodynamics, aerodynamic design, and wind tunnel testing. Since November 1982 he has been collaborating with C.C.R. EURATOM Ispra for engineering studies related to the design of penetrators for disposal of high-level nuclear wastes in deep ocean sediments.
