Andrea Prosperetti obtained the Laurea in Fisica at the University of Milano, Italy, and the doctorate degree in engineering science from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena.During the period between 1975 and 1985 he was Assistant, then Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Milan. In 1985 he became Professor at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, where he is currently the Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His principal interests are in bubble dynamics, free-surface flows, multiphase flows, and numerical methods.
Dr. Prosperetti is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America.
