Michael Hähnel, completed his undergraduate studies in physics at the University of Göttingen, his thesis in fluid dynamics at the Max Planck Institut für Angewandte Mechanik und Strömungsphysik in Göttingen, and his graduate studies in marine research at the Institut für Meereskunde, University of Hamburg. He is working on his Ph.D. dissertation about current measurements at the Arctic Front in the Greenland Sea.
