S. Umesh (S'92) was born in Bangalore, India. He received the B.E. (Hons) degree in electrical and electronic engineering form the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India in 1987 and the M.E. (Hons) degree in electronics engineering from Anna University, Madras, India in 1989.

He is currently working towards the doctoral degree in electrical engineering at the University of Rhode Island. His research interests are in detec tion, estimation, time-frequency analysis, and their applications.
