Paul H. LeBlond was born in Quebec, Que., Canada, in 1938. He received the Ph.D. degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in 1964.

He has taught in the Department of Oceanography at the University of British Columbia since 1965. His research interests have ranged over a variety of ocean waves, from capillary to planetary, with emphasis on coastal oceanography, near-shore wave climate, coastal currents, tides in rivers, and coastal geomorphology.

Dr. LeBlond is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and the Canadian Meteorology and Ocean Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
